SBA planning calculators

Model the question. Do not mistake it for a quote.

These original lendDEFY calculators turn your own assumptions into transparent planning views for payment, debt-service coverage, and a sources-and-uses snapshot. They do not predict a lender or CDC outcome.

By Rodney O'Rourke, President at lendDEFY. Updated October 9, 2026.

No hard credit inquiry is initiated by lendDEFY when you submit a capital profile or complete this application. A future capital provider may separately request credit information only through its own process, with any separate consent and disclosures it requires.

Payment scenario planner

See the math behind one fully amortizing scenario.

This illustration assumes a fixed annual rate for the whole entered term and principal-and-interest payments only. It is not a current SBA rate, lender quote, fee estimate, approval result, or actual amortization schedule.

Formula: monthly payment is calculated from the principal, annual rate assumption, and term you enter. It excludes fees, closing costs, rate changes, escrows, insurance, prepayments, and transaction-specific components.

Estimated monthly payment

$6,066

Principal and interest only.

Estimated annual debt service

$72,797

Monthly illustration multiplied by 12.

Illustrative total interest

$227,966

Over the entered term and fixed-rate assumption.

Round figures, program fees, lender fees, market changes, and transaction facts can materially change an actual lender or CDC presentation.

Cash-flow coverage organizer

Compare your entered annual cash flow with the scenario debt service.

This simple ratio is only a planning lens. It is not a lender's debt-service calculation, an SBA threshold, or an eligibility result.

Illustrative coverage ratio

3.43x

Annual cash flow divided by the payment planner's estimated annual debt service.

Sources-and-uses snapshot

Reconcile the business event before a lender conversation.

This organizer shows the gap between the uses and capital sources you enter. It does not dictate debt structure, equity requirements, SBA treatment, or transaction costs.

Illustrative debt gap

$850,000

Uses $1,000,000 less the two entered capital sources.

SBA calculator FAQ

Use the numbers as preparation, not a decision.

Every output is based only on the assumptions you enter. Confirm transaction terms, program treatment, documentation, and lender or CDC calculations separately.

FAQ answer summary

Plain-language answers

Are the SBA planning calculator outputs quotes or lender terms?

No. The calculators use only the numbers entered by the visitor. They are planning illustrations, not a quote, rate lock, amortization schedule from a lender, eligibility result, underwriting decision, or commitment to lend.

How is the estimated monthly payment calculated?

The payment planner uses the standard fully amortizing payment formula from the entered principal, annual rate assumption, and term. It does not add program fees, lender fees, closing costs, changing-rate behavior, escrow, insurance, multiple-debt components, or transaction-specific conditions unless you separately model them.

Does the cash-flow coverage planner determine whether I qualify?

No. It divides the annual cash-flow amount you enter by the estimated annual debt service you enter. It is a way to organize a planning question, not a lender's calculation and not a qualification threshold. A lender or CDC may use different definitions, adjustments, periods, requirements, and documentation.

Can I use these calculators for an SBA 504 project?

You can use them to organize planning assumptions, but a 504 project may have multiple capital components and transaction-specific costs. The single-debt payment illustration and uses snapshot do not model an actual 504 structure. Confirm the project with a participating lender, Certified Development Company, and relevant advisers.

Does using a calculator trigger a hard credit inquiry?

No. Calculator inputs stay in the browser and lendDEFY does not initiate a hard credit inquiry from this page. Requesting a later review also does not itself initiate a hard inquiry by lendDEFY.

Next step

Turn planning assumptions into a more useful commercial-capital conversation.

Use the calculators and SBA preparation path to frame questions. When the situation is ready, share only high-level business-purpose information for human review.

The SBA preparation experience and planning calculators are educational tools, not legal, tax, accounting, financial, SBA, CDC, lender, underwriting, credit, eligibility, pricing, or approval advice. lendDEFY is not the SBA, a Certified Development Company, or a commitment to lend. Verify all program rules, rates, terms, costs, documentation, and transaction requirements with the relevant official source, selected lender or CDC, and qualified advisers.
